Nick Coope

Thanks for stopping by! I’m Nick Coope, a full-time controls and automation engineer, living in Hull, England.

During the last twenty years I have gained extensive exposure to an array of knowledge and disciplines leading to expertise in the development, design and application of numerous control systems for automated special purpose machinery.

From being responsible for the design of fully automated process lines utilizing complex synchronised servo movements and multiple PLCs working together seamlessly, to then having to dismantle them and spend 6 months in the Czech Republic putting it them together, I’ve worked through many challenges in my 20+ years of working professionally with industrial automation.

After graduating as it were, from The Fin Machine Company, I’ve been working with different machine builders and production line manufacturers, mainly within the chemical, steel & foundry and automotive industries. My tasks within those companies ranged from being responsible for the complete PLC design, to standardisation, commissioning and troubleshooting of complex production lines at factories in different parts of the world.

Nowadays, I enjoy working as a self-employed system integrator on challenging projects with industry-leading machine builders. I don’t travel as much as I used to, but the itch is still there. Every so often, I’ll visit with past customers and work hands-on with software on machines and production lines.

The end-result of a line or machine running smoothly and exactly as the customer wants still puts a smile on my face each time.
